Latest and Greatest

I’m a tad behind in saying this, but Happy New Year! 2017 went by so quickly, and 2018 just crept in like a shadow in the night. What a year 2017 was though. Here is just a snippet of what happened to me last year:

  • Moved to Los Angeles (Happy one year anniversary, LA!)
  • Landed a job in a week of moving (#PTL)
  • Made a home in my little studio (Hi, K-Town)
  • Got sandy with beach volleyball (my escape)
  • Traveled to Europe for the first time (Bonjour, but not Au Revoir because I’ll be back)
  • Found my community (Oikos love)

So you can say that 2017 was pretty eventful…and things aren’t slowing down in 2018.

This month, I’m moving into a one bedroom apartment that is super cute with more room and a parking space that is unbelievably affordable. My move-in date is still being finalized (it could be as soon as next week or the end of this month), but it will definitely be in January. Hopefully, it will be sooner rather than later because the first weekend of February, I will be flying back to Charlotte for a friend’s wedding! Where does the time go?

I’m excited to be in this new apartment and decorate it. Since it is a one bedroom, I’ll also be able to have people over and host parties, which I wasn’t able to do in my studio. Once it is all designed, I’ll share photos with you guys!

Until then, here are the 3 latest and greatest trends that have taken over my life:

1. Balayage.

Hi Dye.

Yes, I balayaged my hair again, but am totally in love with it. I went to Paul Mitchell in Pasadena, and the student did an amazing job. It’s not orange or brassy, with just the right amount of blonde and gradual fade from dark into light.

2. Nude and Berry Lip Color.

3 For the Price of 1.

I used to wear more eye makeup, but lately, I’ve been sticking to the essentials: mascara and eyeliner. The reason? It’s all about the lips for me this season. I found a set of colors that work really well for me thanks to E.L.F. cosmetics.

T. Swift Vibes.

On days where I’m not wearing as much color or patterns, I’ll pull out the berry or red lipstick. The days that I wear more color in my wardrobe, I’ll wear the nude lip color. The good thing about this lip kit is that it is also a moisturizer. My lips don’t feel dry or cake-y, which is a must for me.

I used to be hesitant about having my lips make a statement. However, even adding a little bit of color makes me feel bold and more confident throughout the day. If you are scared to step out of your comfort zone, start with a little bit of color and work your way up. It takes a first step to make a bold statement.

3. Braid it Up.

All Tangled Up.

When I had longer hair, my go-to was always a side-swept fishtail braid. Now that my hair is shorter, I’ve been rocking the middle-part, french braid, pulled into a low bun in the back. I love this hairdo, especially when my hair isn’t cooperating with me when it is down. It’s also great for when I workout because it is out of my way and doesn’t require me to re-tie my hair over and over again. Not to mention that gym hair is just as important as everyday hair.

These latest and greatest will be sticking around for a while. I’m always looking to expand my go-to’s, so any and all suggestions are welcomed! =)
