If you are currently living in Los Angeles, you understand the wave of heat we have recently received. Zero wind. 99+ degree weather. Basically melting as you step outside. I can’t complain too much because the rest of the summer has been idyllic, especially those breezy days I’ve spent at the beach. I’m also okay with the summer heat because that means one thing…Fall is soon approaching!
Fall is my by far my FAVORITE season. I love when the leaves change colors, the air gets crisp, and the cozy sweaters come out of hiding. This will be my first time experiencing Fall on the west coast, so I’m not sure what to expect…but I’m sure I will love it.
But before I start posting all things Fall, here are some tips to beating the summer heat before the weather changes:
- Rompers aka my go-to summer outfit. I also prefer jumpsuits for the work place, especially the ones that are linen because they are lighter and more airy.
- Messy Bun and Ponytail. If you have long, thick hair like I do, sometimes it is best to just throw it up in a bun to get that heat off of your neck. There are days were I’m walking outside and it’s so hot that even my hair is sweating.
- Indoor activities. Recently, I visited LACMA for the first time. Not only is it educational with the various art pieces in the museum, but it also air-conditioned. Big bonus.
- Costco Kale Salad. My mom actually introduced me to this kale salad kit at Costco. I love the poppyseed dressing, sunflower seeds and dried cranberries that come with it. Plus it’s light. Plus it’s filling. Plus it’s healthy. All wins in my book.
Open-toed shoes. When your feet are constrained in socks and closed-toed shoes, it definitely retains heat. I usually wear sandals or open-toed heels to work. And surprisingly, a great place to find cheap shoes for good quality is Ross. I just bought some velvet block heels from Ross for $13.99! I love a good steal.
Let’s hope that this summer heat doesn’t last too much longer. But hey…sweating those calories away never hurt no one ;).
